A huge congratulation to the Year 6 GNSA 2016-17 Primary football team. The team have had an amazing season, which ended in a dramatic final match, with our team finishing in the top four of the local league. Thank you to all parents and teachers who have supported our players in all weathers over the years.  We are sure that the team will continue their success in year 7.

Final match report;

On the 1st March, Guru Nanak hosted Wood End to our last match of the season. Guru Nanak were in great form with 2 wins, 2 games lost and a draw under their belt. Unfortunately, Guru Nanak were without their coach Mr Whynn and their best player, Zain. The team line up was:  Gurleen in goal, Sukhraj , Paramveer and Arjun in defence, Surkhab was playing on  the wing -for the second game running, and Raul (back from his injury) and Balraj -the top scorer-  were strikers.

Ten minutes into the match, Guru Nanak conceded with a lousy mistake from the outpaced defenders as Wood End made it 1-0.After  many chances from Guru Nanak, Balraj came close from a wonderful counter attack. Following a team talk with the football coach Mr Singh, Guru Nanak came back stronger and pressed Wood End in the second half. After a long ball from Sukhraj to Paramveer and then to Raul, he passed to Balraj and Guru Nanak equalised!  Within 35 seconds, from a wonderful corner from Raul, Surkhab got the final touch and Guru Nanak were 2-1 up. Five minutes later, Wood End responded with a great counter attack. In the last 30 seconds of the game, Balraj scored a wonder goal to give Guru Nanak their third win of the season! “What a match,” said Miss Luxon. Guru Nanak were celebrating as if they had won the cup.
