Careers Overview

Years 7 & 8

Year 7 and 8 is all about developing self-awareness and discovering the types of careers that are out there in the big wide world!!

  • Assembly Programme which aims to help students to understand more about themselves (self-development), know where to look for useful information (careers exploration) and plan for the future (career management).
  • All students take part in the Careers Week activities.
  • Weekly Business Enterprise lessons.
  • Preparation for Option Choices - Progress Leader assemblies and Open Evening aim to help students to make a decision on their GCSE preferences that are appropriate to their interests, talents and proposed career.
  • STEM Days.
  • World of Work – Guest Speakers.
  • All Year 8 students will receive a Personal Development Planner.
  • Access to Unifrog Platform - our School's customised careers platform which provides the building blocks for our students to develop their employability skills.
  • Access to Careers Library.

Year 9

  • Careers & Higher Education Fair.
  • Introduction to London Labour Market Information.
  • STEM Days.
  • All students take part in the Careers Week activities.
  • All students have access to impartial careers advice and guidance through our lunchtime drop in service.
  • World of Work – Guest Speakers.
  • Access to Unifrog Platform - our School's customised careers platform which provides the building blocks for our students to develop their employability skills.
  • Access to Careers Library.

Year 10

  • Careers & Higher Education Fair.
  • Visits to Heathrow Careers Fair and Skills London – The UK’s biggest jobs and careers event.
  • Full day workshop on ‘Enterprise Experience’.
  • Full day workshop on ‘Employability Skills’.
  • World of Work skills - Interview techniques, CV writing etc.
  • Aspirational visits such as Oxford and Cambridge University trips.
  • Access to Unifrog Platform - our School's customised careers platform which provides the building blocks for our students to develop their employability skills.
  • Future wise profiling (psychometric and interest based tests to advise students on career aspirations).
  • World of Work – Guest Speakers.
  • Access to Careers Library.

Year 11

  • Careers & Higher Education Fair.
  • Visits to Heathrow Careers Fair and Skills London – The UK’s biggest jobs and careers event.
  • Assemblies and workshops on Post 16 preparations - ULAS, UCAS Progress – application support and access to Unifrog, interview etiquette and Writing a Personal Statement and CV support.
  • Careers & Higher Education Fair.
  • Sixth Form Open Evening.
  • All students have access to impartial careers advice and guidance and 1:1 careers coaching to support them for their GCSE preferences.
  • World of Work – Guest Speakers.

Years 12 & 13
