Reading is encouraged as an activity that enables students to better access the English curriculum in particular and all other subjects generally.  To challenge students we have a list of recommended books according to Year 7, 8 and 9.  Students select a book from the list, read and then use the Reading Room in Google Classroom to show off their reading.

Students do the following:

1 - select a book from the KS3 Recommended Reads (check back every now and then as it will be updated)

2 - Read the book (probably the most important part of the process!)

3 - Show your knowledge and understanding of the book by:
- making a video book report (make it at least 2 minutes or it does not count)
OR - record a song about the book (make it at least 2 minutes or it does not count)
OR - copy over your Eclipse 100 Word comment (less than 100 words does not count)
OR - make a meme (it needs to be clever not rude, if it is unsuitable then it does not count)
OR - make a video where you act a piece of the book (make it at least 2 minutes or it does not count)

4 - Upload your video, recording, comment or meme into the Reading Room stream

5 - Repeat until you have shown 4 books have been read and receive a BRONZE certificate

6 - Repeat until you have shown 8 books have been read and receive a SILVER certificate

7 - Repeat until you have shown 12 books have been read and receive a GOLD certificate
